4. Virtual Assessment Centre
Our virtual Assessment Centre is the first opportunity for us to meet with you. As you’ll be expected to have your camera on for the duration of the assessment, the dress code will be smart business wear, this ideally means no t-shirts please.
The virtual Assessment Centre will last approximately forty five minutes and will consist of a competency-based one to one interview.
You will be contacted via email with a list of available dates and times.
Once you’ve responded to this email and booked yourself into a session you will receive a follow up email confirming your booking.
Documentation
In advance of the virtual assessment centre, we’ll ask you to upload a valid in date photo ID document as proof of identity.
We can accept one of the following documents, but all must be in date and valid for six months from the date of your assessment:
- Passport any Nationality
- Biometric Residence Permit
- National ID Card
- We can accept a Driving Licence either Full or Provisional if you are a British Citizens or born in the UK, however, our preference would be a Passport
- On the day, we’ll ask to see it on camera at the start of the assessment and you’ll also be prompted to share a copy of this document with us in advance.
Unfortunately, if you do not upload the required document when prompted to do so, or attend the virtual Assessment Centre without bringing along the same Photo ID you will not be able to take part in the session.
If you do not have any of the original documents stated above then you’ll need to let us know at the point of receiving your booking invite email.

Preparation
In preparation for your virtual Assessment Centre you may find it helpful to consider our Business Behaviours. Our behaviours show us what good looks like on a day-to-day basis. They are:
- Look after our Customers
- Work as a Team
- Focus on Results
- Look for Improvements
- Build Relationships
- Take Ownership
- Professional Conduct
You may find it helpful to consider examples of where you have demonstrated these behaviours before, ideally in a workplace setting.
Competency based Interview – Some of the questions will be competency based, where you will be asked to give specific examples of situations in response to questions.
Please carry out some research on this style of questioning along with the STAR method which will help you with structuring your answers.
As a reminder, the ‘STAR’ method stands for ‘Situation, Task, Action, Result‘:
- Situation: Set the scene, what was the situation
- Task: Discuss the purpose and tasks involved
- Action: Explain what you did and the actions you personally took
- Result: Share the result of those actions
You will receive a feedback report via email on your performance at both the Interactive Online Assessment and the Audio/Telephone Interview.
We would recommend carefully reviewing this feedback as part of your preparations for the virtual Assessment Centre.
Virtual Assessment Centre Webinar
We will also run a short webinar before the virtual Assessment Centre to which you will be invited.
We strongly recommend that you attend the webinar so that you are well prepared for attending on the day.
Besides giving you an overview of what to expect you will also be able to ask questions.
If you are unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to access the recording afterwards.
Find the link to the webinar in the virtual Assessment Centre Invite Email we’ve sent you.
Adjustments
Here at Heathrow we’re proud to be recognised as a disability confident leader. If you have a disability for which you would like us to make any adjustment to the recruitment process, which you have not yet discussed with a member of our recruitment team, please contact us on 0208 103 1959 or by email at HeathrowRecruitment@peoplescout.co.uk before booking your virtual Assessment Centre slot.
What happens next?
Once you’ve completed the virtual Assessment Centre you can expect to receive an outcome within a few days.
If you’ve been successful you will be invited to attend in person a Security Interview and Medical Review.
You’ll also receive a feedback report on your performance at the virtual Assessment Centre, regardless of the outcome.
