2. Audio/Telephone Interview
Once you have completed your Interactive Online Assessment you will be invited to take part in an Audio Interview which is the fast track option.
The Audio Interview has been designed to allow you to complete the interview at a time that works for you, and in an environment where you will feel most comfortable.
There will be an option to take part in a Telephone Interview if you prefer and you’re happy to wait.
If you select this option, then you will receive further instructions via email.
The questions will be the same no matter which option you select and the outcome will not be affected by your choice.
General Preparation
There are a few things you need to think about ahead of the interview, so you can be at your best.
- Think about what has motivated you to apply for this position.
- Some of the questions will be hypothetical scenario-based questions where you’ll be given some information about a situation you might face in the role and you’ll need to tell us about how you would deal with that situation.
Audio Interview
If you select this option, you’ll have the opportunity to complete the interview right away or you can click on the link in the email that you’ll receive.
You’ll have up to five days in which to complete the interview.
We would, however, recommend not delaying and submitting your recording at your earliest opportunity.
We will then aim to provide you with an outcome within five days.
The Audio Interview will be completed through Tazio, the same platform that you used to complete the IOA and it should take up to 20 minutes to complete.
You will have a set amount of time to read and verbally respond to questions on screen, and your responses will be recorded. Please note that only your voice will be recorded; no video recording will be taken. This will enable us to listen back to the recording afterwards.
You will require access to the internet throughout the assessment so please make sure you have an uninterrupted connection as you must complete the assessment in one sitting.
You can complete the assessment on a desktop computer, mobile, or tablet, but please make sure that you’re in a quiet place so that you are not disturbed.
We recommend that you use either Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari. However, if you are using an iPhone/iPad please don’t use Google Chrome. The assessment cannot be accessed on either Internet Explorer or Opera.
Audio Interview Preparation
- When recording your answers please do try to relax and be yourself. The content of the questions will appear on the screen, and this content should guide your answers.
- If you live with friends and family, or are taking the interview around other people, let them know before you start so that you aren’t interrupted.
- This is your chance to express yourself. Don’t worry if you’re a bit nervous, lots of people can feel this way. We really appreciate the time you’ve put into this, and want you to do well.
- Lots of people like to have a glass of water nearby while they speak, which is fine. We’ve included time between each question for you to prepare, so use this time to take a drink if you need.
- Remember, turn on ‘Do not Disturb’ on your settings so that you don’t receive messages, calls or notifications whilst you complete your interview.
- Make sure that your microphone is on and that you are talking directly into it so that we can hear your answers clearly.
- Try not to get too close to the microphone, as this can make your answers muffled … or too far away, so that our interviewer can’t hear what you’re saying.
Telephone Interview
If you select this option, we’ll invite you via email to book yourself in for a Telephone Interview using our online booking system.
Once you have booked yourself into a convenient date and time, we will send you an email confirmation.
We ask that you please book yourself into one of the available time slots within five days of receiving your invitation email.
Once you’ve completed your interview, we will then aim to provide you with an outcome within five days.
The Telephone Interview will last up to 25 minutes and will be conducted by a member of our Recruitment team.
We will call you at your chosen date and time from a withheld number.
It is therefore helpful for you to check with your phone provider beforehand that you will be able to accept our call.
If you need us to call you on a different number from the one you gave us when you applied, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting us at either HeathrowRecruitment@peoplescout.co.uk or call us on 0208 103 1959.
Telephone Interview Preparation
- If using a mobile phone, please make sure it has enough power, and that you are in a quiet and comfortable place where you and your interviewer can hear each other. You will need to ensure that you have good phone reception.
- A member of our Recruitment team will present you with the questions and take note of your responses so please do try to relax and be yourself.
- If you’re no longer able to take part in the interview at the pre-agreed date and time, please make us aware immediately and we will do our best to reschedule you provided that you’ve let us know in advance.
Adjustments
Here at Heathrow we’re proud to be recognised as a disability confident leader. If you have a disability for which you would like us to make any adjustment to the recruitment process, and you have not yet been contacted by a member of our recruitment team, please contact us on 0208 103 1959 before booking your interview slot.
What happens next?
If successful at this stage, we’ll invite you to meet us and take part in a virtual Assessment Centre.
At this point we’ll ask you to get a head-start on the referencing and vetting process by completing the online Referencing & Vetting Form.
This form will outline your 5-year employment history and we’ll also ask you to directly contact the HMRC to request a letter containing your 5 -year employment history. There is more on this in the next section.
Don’t forget to check your emails for a report that will provide you with some feedback on your performance at both this stage and the IOA no matter what the outcome.
Throughout your recruitment journey there will be several opportunities for you to provide us with feedback on your experience. We’d appreciate you taking the time to tell us what you think when prompted.
