The process of becoming a Security Officer can be overwhelming at first and that’s why we’ve created the Recruitment Support Portal which is your guide to everything you need to know about the application and the referencing and vetting process.

We’ll update this Portal at each step of your journey, to make sure you have the right information at the right time. This way there will be no surprises.

Your journey to become a Security Officer

  • The IOA is designed to give you a better understanding of the Security Officer role, and will assess your suitability against some of these key skills.

    Time Frame

    40 mins

  • recorded audio interview or phone call where we will find out more about you and why you want to become a Security Officer. 

    Time Frame

    Up to 25 mins

  • You will need to complete an online Referencing & Vetting Form outlining your 5-year history and contact the HMRC to request a 5-year employment history letter.

    Time Frame

    Up to one hour

  • Our virtual Assessment centre consists of a one to one competency based interview.  

    Time Frame

    45 minutes

  • A face-to-face meeting with a member of our ID Centre team (IDC) to review your submitted Referencing & Vetting Form.

    Time Frame

    Up to 30 minutes

  • A Medical check taking place in person on the same day as your Security Interview.

    Time Frame

    Up to 30 minutes

  • You will receive an overview of the end to end referencing process including what is required from you.

    Time Frame

    A formal offer call lasting up to 45 minutes

  • During this time we will carry out all of the necessary pre-employment vetting checks.

    On average this takes between 14 – 15 weeks

  • A big welcome, followed by both classroom and on the job training.

    Six week full time training period

The Role

As a Security Officer at Heathrow you’ll be on the frontlines of passenger service and safety. 

You’ll join us in helping to fulfil our vision to give passengers the best airport service in the world.

You’ll do this using the ‘Heathrow Security Triangle’ of Protect, Serve, and Grow. You’ll protect and serve not just our passengers but also your fellow colleagues who will equally serve your wellbeing.

The Business Support Centre is part of our People Team which supports with Heathrow’s core HR functions. Based in Glasgow, the Business Support Team is your primary contact during the referencing and vetting process.
